A friend of mine once told me a story about a rumor that a mass grave was discovered in a very remote place. The place was so remote that no one had ever heard of it before. Many people went to the place and even though they didn't find any bodies, they found something that left them horrified. The discovery was made when the workers were digging to fill up a water tank.
They were surprised to find what looked like a small child's hand. It was an old hand with nails missing and one finger missing from the middle. It was then sent to the police for further investigation.
The police found that at least 200 children had disappeared in the area over the last two years and that many of them had been taken away by someone named "The Butcher." It turned out that he was the head of some cult and he killed all of these children for his own pleasure or to sacrifice them for some kind of ritual or other. He would take them on their way home from school, take them into woods where he would kill them, bury them and then move on to another town where he would do the same thing again. My friend said he had seen pictures of him on the news and that the man looked like the devil himself.
He said there were many more cases like this, but that most of them had gone unreported because no one had ever found out what happened to these children after they disappeared. This is what my friend called haunting, because though you might go looking for it, if you never find it you will never be free of it because it will haunt your dreams forever.
